On Thursday, July 29th, 2021, EFI Founder and CEO Ernest Moniz was awarded the inaugural Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Program Award for Advancing Energy Policy in recognition of his substantial contribution to national and international energy policy.

Moniz was honored with the award on the final day of the Aspen Institute’s fourth annual Aspen Energy Week, a private event that convenes policymakers, entrepreneurs, and the nation’s leaders in thought, energy policy, and industry to discuss critical factors from each field affecting the clean energy transition. This year, the event focused on strategizing decarbonization of the electric grid. Earlier in the week, EFI principal Melanie Kenderdine participated as a panelist for a conversation on the topic.

Surrounded by colleagues, friends, and former students, Secretary Moniz graciously accepted the award, which he was physically shipped beforehand, thanking current and former colleagues integral to his success.
