EFI welcomes 3 new Distinguished Associates

EFI is excited to welcome three exceptional individuals to its network of Distinguished Associates: Carol J. BattershellMike Ming, and Mary Louise Wagner. EFI draws on the experience and expertise of its Distinguished Associates on a project-specific basis. Carol, Mike, and Mary Louise bring extensive energy industry and policy experience to EFI:

  • Carol J. Battershell served as Principal Deputy Director in the Office of Policy at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) until 2018. At DOE, she led multi-billion dollar technical programs, ran the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy field operations office, and was a key contributor on two multi-Agency energy policy reviews. Prior to DOE, Carol held a variety of roles at BP over 25 years (1983–2008). Her final role was Vice President, Policy and Strategy for BP Alternative Energy in London. Carol currently serves on the advisory board for the Energy Policy Institute and is a board member or advisor for Lean In Energy, Ally, and the Clean Energy Education and Empowerment Initiative (C3E).
  • Mike Ming is the President and Founder of Ming Energy Partners, LLC. He previously served as the Vice President — Executive Liaison for Marketing & Technology for Baker Hughes, a GE Company, and as General Manager of General Electric’s Global Research Oil and Gas Technology Center. From 2011 to 2013, Mike served as the Oklahoma Secretary of Energy under Governor Mary Fallin. Previous roles include President of the Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America (RPSEA), Managing Member and principal of K. Stewart Energy Group and K. Stewart Petroleum Corp, and strategic planning advisor to the U.S. Department of Energy. He serves on several boards including the Global Innovation Platform, Duncan Oil, and university industry advisory boards at Stanford, the University of Texas Bureau of Economic Geology, and the University of Oklahoma.
  • Mary Louise Wagner served as Democratic Staff Director for the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources until she retired from federal service in February 2019. Mary Louise previously served in the Obama Administration as a senior policy advisor to EFI Founder and President Ernest Moniz during his tenure as Energy Secretary. From 2001 to 2013, Mary Louise was a staffer for Senator Carl Levin (Michigan). She also served in the Clinton Administration as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Department of Energy, as a senior policy advisor for Secretary Federico Pena and Secretary Bill Richardson, and as Executive Director of Secretary Richardson’s external advisory board.
